Zoo To Do 2014 Raised $1,085,000
(Yes, that's over a million dollars!)
Zoo To Do 2014: Jewels of the Kalahari has set the record of the most funds raised at a Zoo To Do event. Not only did we raise record funds but we also sold out of event seating - total attendance was 671 people.
We extend a big Dallas Zoo thank you to our Zoo To Do 2014 event chairs, Jennifer and Doug Houser and Tiffany and Paul Divis, and to all Zoo To Do 2014 committee members, donors, restaurants and chefs, live and silent auction participants, and Mystery Box Raffle purchasers.
The highlight of the evening was the baby giraffe naming Live Auction item that sold for $50,000. The birth and the naming purchase have received a lot of local and national press.
We will have an online contest through which the public will vote on the name for the baby. Participants will choose from three designated names. In addition, participants can nominate a school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which will be entered into a drawing to receive a complimentary program from the Zoo's Animal Adventures crew. Voting ends Sunday, November 9, at 5 p.m. Vote Here!
